Mikhail is from the Soviet Union, where he was a scientist. He and his family, wife and children, moved to the United States in the 90's, and a few years after Mikhail moved here, his wife passed away.

These days, he keeps active with daily exercise and creating paintings of his favorite people and places. He says that she will often visit him in his dreams. Mikhail is a phenomenal painter and, among landscapes, replicas, and other European style paintings, he has painted several portraits of his wife, who he clearly loves so much. The paintings cover the walls of his apartment.

Throughout his life, he has traveled and learned several languages. He loves reading and strives to keep his mind busy, trying not to let the fact that he is near 100 years old stop him. Currently he is working on an invention that uses magnetic power. This work occupies his mind and his time. He lit up when talking about this invention and is quite protective of it. Also, despite the fact that is nearly 100, he seems relatively mobile, still climbing a flight of stairs to get to his second-floor apartment. There a strong bond of friendship that formed between Mikhail and Rena, his CT Community Care Manager. He commented, "With Mrs. Rena, we are acquainted very long, from year 2006. It means, more than 10 years. And I believe that she is my friend. My experience is proving this. Rena is a good friend, caring, and attentive. When she calls, and announces that she will visit me, I usually feel very good. I think she understands my goodwill. Friend is friend, in spite of the number of years."
