Celebrating Older American's Month

In celebration of Older American's Month, we at Connecticut Community Care wanted to share with you an inspirational client story. Meet Linda!
Most days are a challenge for Linda. She has dialysis three times a week, needs assistance getting dressed, preparing food and medications, and uses a walker to get around her apartment. “I used to be an engineer and was very independent,” says Linda. “Now I need help 24 hours a day." Linda’s resilience and courage to persevere is evident. “I have a good family and we talk on the phone every day. My friends visit with me every day as well. If I were in a nursing home, I know that I would feel even worse, and that is not a life. I am independent in my home. I love life, my family and friends. And, whenever I need something, I know that I can call Ann-Marie. She is very nice and she’s like a friend to me.”
CCC Care Manager Ann-Marie Lewis beams when she speaks of Linda’s appreciative nature. “It makes me feel so good when I can help. Even if I do something small for her, she is very thankful. I’m so happy to help Linda receive services at home and to make a real difference in her life.”
“I appreciate the help I have been given by CCC over the past 10 years, says Linda. “I appreciate America. I’m very sick but I have help. They gave me life.”
