Meet Lynne
“I was determined to stay in my home, but not AT home.” For the majority of Lynne's life, she struggled with her weight. At her heaviest, she weighed 400 pounds, which lead to her developing diabetes and high blood pressure. When Lynne was in her early 20's, she was in a serious car accident and developed crippling arthritis. Later in her life, she had surgery to treat endometrial cancer. Lynne was happy to be able to recover and to stay in her home, but she was restless and didn’t want to feel stuck there. She started visiting the senior center five days a week. There, she learned how simple eating and exercise habits could change her life. For the first time in decades, she could see that her most ambitious health and lifestyle goals were very much attainable.
After almost 50 years, Lynne completely changed her life. She’s lost more than 200 pounds. She’s no longer diabetic and no longer needs blood pressure medication. She shares healthy eating tips and recipes to inspire others and relies on only minimal help from caregivers. “I am independent, I eat healthy and I have a passion for life. In a lot of ways, I’m living a whole new life.”
