Meet Milagros

Milagros loves to reminisce about her days as a delivery room nurse. She'll tell you that helping babies be born were some of the most rewarding days of her life. Milagros says she “prayed a lot for those babies” and graciously confirms they all did well.

Her CCC team includes Care Manager Amanda Pollock and Translator Angel Ortiz who shared, “I've been to Milagros' home. She loves to talk about the joy of helping mothers deliver their babies as a delivery room nurse and she has several pictures in her living room of the babies and their families. She also talks proudly of her nursing certificates and other achievements in her life.”

With such a rich history, Milagros decided it was time to write a book to share her life’s story. The book, called Milagros Peguero, captures important moments in her life that are meant to be shared with her children and grandchildren, who are so important to her. Her book is available in Spanish and will soon be translated into English, which will help her life story reach a broader audience.

Milagros' current challenges include diabetes, hypertension, neuropathy and shortness of breath. “Although she has these challenges, her courageous spirit is an inspiration,” says Amanda. “Angel and I are there for her, helping her to navigate through these difficult times. We make a great team.”
