Stepping Forward

Stepping Forward.
"Last week's verdict is a step forward. Justice has been met in this case, but it cannot erase the years, decades, centuries of injustices to black and brown people in our country. As we look inward and outward on our personal and organizational DEI journey I wanted to mark this moment because it is significant. Black lives matter." ~Julia Evans Star
Today, CCC introduces its 14-member Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee representing staff across all levels of our organization. Each inspirational member is approaching this work with humility, self-reflection, and authenticity. We have only just begun.
This painting was provided by one of our exemplary care managers and a DEI committee member, Ron, who explained to the artist what we hope to accomplish with our new committee. He shared, “She became inspired on the spot to create a version of her painting that was more reflective of our agency. She created this one below, with colors that represent updates with black, brown, white, pink and baby blue to recognize people of color, trans people, and the LGBTQIA+ population. She also added in gold, reflective of the “golden years” for our senior population. She calls this painting “Inclusive Feather". Fancy that…Seeing others become inspired in the work we do while we are still in our infancy stage.”
