A Message From Julia - April 2021

Outside my window I see buds on my favorite dogwood tree. Yes, spring 2021 has arrived and with it comes newfound hope in large part due to science, collective determination and the resultant promise that a bold and expansive vaccination roll-out strategy holds. Do you feel it, too? It is in stark contrast to last spring and the uncertain and devastating year that followed. We all experienced the impact of COVID, but sadly, older adults and people with underlying health conditions bore the largest brunt of it (especially if Black or brown).
A supportive home and community-based services network became exceedingly critical for thousands of people in Connecticut who experienced loss and increased isolation. Our purpose is to ensure the health and wellbeing of those we serve, and to foster a dynamic where people can not only live in the community but also thrive there. It is what drives us and at the very heart of why Connecticut Community Care exists.
Your generosity during this past year not only helped our clients with concrete needs like food, a walker, a clean mattress and much more, but also lifted spirits to know people like you care.
Right now we at Connecticut Community Care are working hard to help our clients to get vaccinated so they can safely reunite with family - to gather, embrace, reengage with community and reconnect to activities that brings them joy. It’s true, the promises and hope of spring, coupled with the successful vaccination strategy has us filled with gratitude and optimism for brighter days.
Thank you all for doing your part!
