Elders and Technology
According to Pew Research Center, Internet use among those 65 and older grew 150 percent between 2009 and 2011, the largest growth in a demographic group. Furthermore, their 2012 study showed that of those that go online, 71 percent do so daily and 34 percent use social media. Today’s older adults are more savvy than ever about keeping up with changing technology. Cell phones, lap tops and ipads are the latest ways they are keeping busy and engaged. Many also recognize the convenience associated with newer technologies as they allow them to embrace what’s happening throughout the world with a touch to the keypad. Everything from participating in discussion groups for life and health issues pertinent to them to fun selfies with the grandkids, this group is making huge headway when it comes to keeping up with technology. CCC also recognizes the power of technology to track important client information and to administer services. In fact, we recently were awarded our largest technology grant ever, $824,265, to further upgrade technology on behalf of serving clients like you better and more efficiently.
